Jellyfish.com - my new favorite site
By: Darice Corey | Discussion (0)

What is Jellyfish.com?

Jellyfish is a new kind of search engine. We call it the Internet’s first buying engine. Search engines are great for finding information, but we think you also need a search engine that is perfect for when you want to buy something online.

Enter Jellyfish.com. Sure we make it simple for you to find the right product from a trusted merchant. But we also do something really different too: We share our revenue with you. Think of us like a Robin-Hood-like search engine that takes a percentage of the revenue you generate through your buying activity and redistributes it to you. I bet your search engine has never done that!

Working from home: Where are the reputable companies?
By: Darice Corey | Discussion (0)

A few people have asked me about this lately. I saw a report on Good Morning America targeting single moms and moms who just plain need additional income on a tight schedule. There are tons of scams out there, so this report was extremely helpful. I checked into Willow myself and there’s an extensive application process including a background check, which made me feel more comfortable.

Here are some reputable companies seeking customer service reps to work from home:

Willow CSN

Alpine Access

LiveOps

West

Here’s a blurb from ABCNews.com:

Virtual Customer-service Agent

A growing work-from-home opportunity is to answer the inbound customer calls for companies like J. Crew, 1-800-flowers, Virgin Atlanta or Walgreens. These major players and many others like them outsource their customer-service calls to companies that hire U.S.-based virtual agents.

Set your own hours and pick an account that’s ideally suited to your knowledge and interests. In addition to having a pleasant voice and strong customer-service skills, you must have high-speed Internet access, a computer, a landline, and a quiet place to work — all of which you pay for on your own.

Expect to make an average of between $8 and $15 an hour depending on your experience, call volume and accounts. Be prepared to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, although some agents work 40 hours to 60 hours when their schedule permits.

Alpine Access hires virtual agents as employees. Other companies, including LiveOps, West and Willow CSN hire agents as independent contractors. All of these companies hire year-round, and they’re all eager for talent as they prepare for a very busy holiday season.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Happy New Year!! (a little early)
By: Darice Corey | Discussion (0)

I came across this on another site. Enjoy & have a wonderful, safe holiday!

This is dedicated to family & true friends who enrich my life with the treasure of their being. May your soul decisions always be made with your heart, and not with your head.

24 Interludes of Life

1. Don’t go for looks, they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile.

2. There are moments in life when you really miss someone that you want to pick them up from your dreams and hug them. Hope you dream of that someone.

3. Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want in life.

4. May you have…Enough happiness to make you sweet
Enough trials to make you strong
Enough sorrow to keep you human
Enough hope to make you happy
And enough money to keep you comfortable.

5. When one door of happiness closes, another opens. But we often took so long at the closed door, that we don’t see the one which has been opened for us.

6. The best kind of friend is the one you could sit on a porch, swing with, never saying a word and then walk away feeling like that was the best conversation you’ve had.

7. It’s true that we don’t know what we’ve got until we lose it, but it’s also true that we don’t know what we’ve been missing until it arrives.

8. Always put yourself in other’s shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably does hurt the person too.

9. A careless word may kindle a strife;
A cruel word may wreck a life
A timely word may level stress
A lovely word may heal and bless.

10. The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves and not to twist them with our own image, otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.

11. The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes along the way.

12. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we should know how to be grateful for that gift.

13. It takes a minute to have a crush on someone, an hour to like someone and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

14. Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched and those who have tried. For only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives.

15. Love is when you take away the feeling, the passion, the romance and find out you still care for that person.

16. A sad thing about life is that when you meet someone who means a lot to you only to find out in the end that it was never bound to be and you just have to let go.

17. Love starts with a smile, develops with a kiss and ends with a tear.

18. Love comes to those who still hope even though they’ve been disappointed, to those who still believe even though they’ve been betrayed, need to love those who still love, even though they’ve been hurt before.

19. It hurts to love someone, and not to be loved in return but what is most painful is to love someone and never finds the courage to let the person know how you feel.

20. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past. You can’t go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

21. Never say goodbye when you still want to try;
Never give up when you still feel you can take it;
Never say you don’t love that person anymore when you can’t let go.

22. Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they’ll love you back. Don’t expect love in return, just wait for it to grow in their hearts but if it doesn’t, be content it grew in yours.

23. There are things you love to hear but you would never hear it from the person whom you would like to hear it from, but don’t be deaf to hear it from the person who says it with his heart.

24. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life to the fullest so that when you die, you’re smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Did you know you can pay your city and property taxes online?
By: Darice Corey | Discussion (0)

For Bridgeport, go to the City of Bridgeport website and click on the link towards the bottom where it says, “Official Payments Online” or go directly to OfficialPayments.com. The site is secure and authorized by the IRS. You can process your city, state, and property tax payments online. I believe other cities/towns in Connecticut are listed as well. There is a surcharge but sometimes it’s worth it to get the payment in quickly!

Bridgeport’s First Night New Year’s Eve Celebration
By: Darice Corey | Discussion (0)
Click on the article for more details.

Organizers of Bridgeport’s first-ever First night are hoping to attract thousands of people to downtown Bridgeport on New Year’s Eve with entertainment, children’s activities and fireworks.

First Night plans call for events at more than a dozen downtown venues from 4 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Dec. 31. The climax will be a countdown with performers and a fireworks display at Harbor Yard Ballpark at midnight. Most other events will take place indoors.
Pamela Amodio, who directed the successful First Night Hartford for 12 years, has been hired to run the Bridgeport event. The Hartford celebration has attracted up to 30,000 people at 22 venues.

“We have quite a diverse line-up,” Amodio said of First Night Bridgeport, noting the schedule of entertainers should be finalized soon.

There will be singers, storytellers, magicians, jugglers, hat- and mask-making, a puppet troupe and a Russian-American traveling circus. Most children’s activities will go from 4 to 7 p.m., but all events are considered appropriate for families.

One highlight will be the so-called “Bubble Stomp” at 6 p.m. at the People’s Bank Plaza on Main Street, an event wrapped in some level of secrecy.

“All I can tell you is it has to do with bubble wrap, makes a whole lot of noise and lets people vent lots of energy,” Amodio said. “While designed primarily for kids, I’m sure adults will get into it as well.”

The cost to attend all First Night events is $7 for adults and $1 for children ages 11 and younger. People will receive a button to wear that enables them to enter all venues.

The theme of the initial First Night Bridgeport is “A Circus of the Arts,” highlighting the city’s connection to showman P.T. Barnum and today’s emerging local arts scene.
For details on First Night Bridgeport, call Pamela Amodio at 203-522-0224.
